Regional Trails and Bicycle Tourism

posted Mar 25, 2012, 9:06 PM by Simon Springall
There are many existing and planned regional trails to the North and South of Wilsonville, potentially meeting at the French Prairie Bridge.
Construction of the bridge would invite further trails and present a significant bicycle tourism industry.  This is not limited to local residents but may be nationwide as Wilsonville could be the ideal starting point for cultural, environmental, agricultural or other tours.

Major trials to the south, beyond the connection to Champoeg State Park include the Willamette Valley Scenic Bikeway (or here on Ride Oregon).

To the North, the Tonquin Trail is under construction which will connect Wilsonville to Sherwood, Tualatin and Tigard.   This will connect to the Fanno Creek trail and a whole network of regional trails in the Portland Metro area.

This connectivity centered at Wilsonville via could naturally lead to a new tourism industry supporting existing and new businesses in Wilsonville and the surrounding area.
